Tree of life ... and then some cats!
I love all things Irish and the Celtic knot artworks and decided the next bag was going to be of Earth & Sky & Trees all twisty. I used Vegetable tanned kip side, in around 1.8ml, softened & creamy. I tool the picture using an engraver and paint with a variety of fabric paints, leather dye and acrylics. I use paintbrushes, natural sponge & my fingers to colour & shade. I cut, sew, punch the holes, all by hand, no machinery (other than my Dremel) is used. Behold the outcome of my musings ...
So the Tree was born ...
I found the coolest antique Buttons and added the elements of Nature & the Heavens. This is the back view of the bag ...
Three compartments for storing treasures this etui gave. Sean wanted it as a gift for his sister in Ireland, but a feline or two needed adding.
He also took another bag for his niece, of much leafiness, which I named Maple!
then he told a tale of 'beyond the pale' and from whence it came about, interesting as the Grand Castletown House where the bag came to Earth, is one of those grand homes built by the Gentry, whilst the working classes were moved way out ... beyond the pale!
The tree of life, with its cats, now resides on the Emerald Isle ... like as if it was meant!
