I learned that I really am paying twice the price for food in the tourist area of Kuala Lumpur. When I visited my steeming friends a few LRT stops away, everything from bottled water, to street food, to restaurant food, to convenience store supplies, was half or less what I pay here in Chinatown. I the US where I lived before, Chinatown is where you go for cheap food and supplies. Not here, and now I know.
