LEAN TO ASK HOW I
READ: II Kings 5:1-19
MORE LESSON: Acts 16:16-34
It is wrong to think that the fact that you couldn't do something means nobody can do it. The right thing to do when someone has something you couldn't get is to be humble enough to ask how. The fact that it didn't work for you does not mean that it can't work. You may never have met somebody for who it worked but that doesn't mean it doesn't work. There is a way poverty has membership and followership. Friendship at the base costs nothing, so it is easy to carry poverty with sympathy and tell yourself it’s ok to be poor. Each time you hear people say it’s ok to be poor it’s because they have tried to get out of it and couldn't; each time you see someone criticise a wealthy person it’s because he has tried to be wealthy but failed. It is wrong to work on assumption. Learn to ask how. Your today is someone's history, the clothe of a young man today is an old man's rag. You only need to ask how things are done and you will ride with ease.
Often we accredit what we do not understand to the works of the devil. For instance, if a woman who is faithful in paying her tithe and offering and is a Kingdom financier prospers, it is common to accuse her of making blood money whereas she is only operating by Kingdom principles. Excellence does not necessarily have to come from the devil.
We have attributed good things to Satan too much. If we attribute excellence to Satan, what does God give? If we cancel success because we failed, where is God? God is the highest expression of beauty. That's why He makes all things beautiful.
Namaan was a leper as long as he failed to meet the God of Israel. He almost missed his blessing but for his ability to take good counsel. He was shown where to find the solution to his problem and at once he responded in the right direction. He set out to go to Samaria to see the prophet. When he got there, contrary to his opinion, the prophet asked him to go to the River Jordan to wash and he became furious. He was almost returning to his country. He started recounting how better the water in his country was to the water in Samraia, but God's ways are not our ways. And his servants asked him, ...My father, if the prophet had bid thee do some great thing, wouldest thou not have done it? how much rather then, when he saith to thee, Wash, and be clean? 2 Kings 5:13. And immediately he headed for the River Jordan and washed and he was made whole. The excellent result was because he sustained the ability to take good counsel even though he did not understand the details.
