WHEN BEEN RUDE IS ALLOWED

When all other means fail, been rude is allowed.

So many times, people fall into one trouble, temptations and all sort of unpleasant things as a result of trying to please people who are trying to cross their boundaries with them. At times we talk nicely and act patiently to those whose plans are not to our advantage but to satisfy their selfish interest.

A friend of mine narrated her story on how a married man who was more of her supervisor, was making advances at her, even to the extent of threatening to implicate her so as she looses her job. She tried all possible means to make the man see reasons why she cannot indulge in such act. At some point, she had to plead to be understood but guess what? The more she begged, the more courageous and intimidating her oppressor became. She could no longer go to work with ease anymore, it seems her supervisor finds fault in everything she does at work; all her contributions were useless as far as he was concern. She keeps tolerating according to her, so as to protect not just her job, but her relationship and the home of her supervisor who do not value and regard her relationship.

It is beautiful to think good of others, it is good to value relationships but the question now is how does this goodness of ours affect us in the long run? She acting nice and naive to me only makes her more vulnerable to him.

When you've tried all possible means to explain your boundaries and principles to those who want to mess you up, you have no other option but to confidently say no and put them in their place. Not just saying NO through words but back it up with concrete actions. I strongly believe everyone has a limit they push for something and when it's not forth coming, they have no other option but to quit and possibly, become an enemy who will keep fighting from a distance.

It is high time we stop giving room for our destruction by letting them cross their boundaries with us. We might end up loosing our self esteem, respect and integrity if we continue to condone things that we are not comfortable with. We keep giving our oppressors an upper hand not to only intimidate us but we somehow give them the impression that others and possibly those after us can be intimidated. Enough is enough!
