Toothed Spurge (Euphorbia Dentata)

There are many variations of the toothed spurge with the botanical name euphorbia dentata. This is often attributed to its growing conditions. In other words, it is stronger in humid areas.

The stems are upright, the branches are spreading, hairy from top to bottom, and greenish to reddish in color.

Leaves are opposite, but the lowermost leaves are alternate, up to 3½ inches long, lanceolate to ovate, tapering to a thin stem.

Flowers are small and densely obscured at the tips of stems and branches.

Toothed spurges are relatively common and easily identified in metro landscapes and around waste places.
