The Santa Maria feverfew, botanical name parthenium hysterophorus, is a species of flowering plant in the Asteraceae family.

It is also known by other common names such as Santa Maria, whitetop weed, and famine weed, and native to tropical America.

These plants produce allergens that affect humans and livestock, as well as allelopathic chemicals that suppress other crops and pastures.

They are also called famine weeds because they attack grasslands and farmland and reduce yields.
