Rubber Fig (Ficus elastica)
The rubber fig, scientific name ficus elastica, is a species of flowering plant in the moraceae family.
Also called rubber bush, rubber tree, rubber plant, or Indian rubber bush, Indian rubber tree, it is native to eastern South Asia and Southeast Asia.
The tree is grown worldwide as an ornamental plant, indoors in colder climates and outdoors in tropical regions to the Mediterranean.
The tree has broad, glossy, oval leaves. Young plants have the largest leaf size, while older trees have smaller leaves.
