Mitsuba Azalea (Rhododendron Dilatatum)
Mitsuba azalea, with the scientific name rhododendron dilatatum, is a broad-leaved shrub of the plant family native to Japan.
The plant is characterized by three rhombic-shaped and a broad oval shape green leaves attached to the ends of the branches in a ring. The branches are slender and grow smoothly upward.
The flowers appear before the leaves, i.e. from mid-March to mid-April, and are reddish-purple, peach or white in color, 3-4 cm in diameter.
