Spotted Laurel (Aucuba Japonica)
Spotted laurel, whose botanical name is aucuba japonica, is a shrub that grows naturally in rich forest soils of moist valleys, bushes, river banks, and shady moist rocks.
It is also called Japanese laurel, Japanese aucuba or gold dust plant (USA), and is native to China, Korea, and Japan.
The leaves are opposite, broad, about 5 to 8 cm long and 2 to 5 cm wide.
The flowers are small, about 4-8 mm in diameter, each with four purplish brown petals, and grows in groups of 10-30.
This tree is often considered an informal hedge, but can be grown indoors as an ornamental plant.
