Japanese Cheesewood (Pittosporum Tobira)

Japanese cheesewood, botanically named pittosporum tobira, is a species of aromatic flowering plant in the genus pittosporum of the family pittosporaceae.

It is also known by several other names, including Australian laurel, Japanese pittosporum, and mock orange, and is native to Japan (south of the Kanto region), China, Taiwan, and Korea.

The tree is also used worldwide as a cut leaf and as an ornamental plant in landscaping.

Its binomial name, tobira, is taken from its Japanese name, tobera, which comes from "tobira no ki" which roughly translates to "door tree".
