It Needs Eatin' Stew
Hello, and welcome once again to another one of my culinary adventures. This time, it's necessity, not idle speculation, that is the mother of invention.
In essence, we have a whole bunch of organic veggies that are on the borderline to heading towards the compost, and I despise waste. So we got out our food processor and got prepping. And, because I had just finished making the cheesecake, there was still a lot of mess from that lying around.
It Needs Eatin' Stew
Implements
- 1 slow cooker
- 1 food processor
- 1 container for water
- 1 sharp knife for any chopping
Ingredients
- Any and all veggies you may have that are on the cusp of tossing out
- 2 sizable portions of Osso Bocco
- Herbs and spices to taste
Method
- We had our Osso Bocco already marinating in olive oil, salt, pepper and basil, inside vaccuum bags, but this isn't a vital step
- Chop any really nasty bits out of your veg (dur)
- Feed your vegetables into your food processor, as your whims demand[1]
- Add them to your slow cooker
- Rinse out your processor and add the water to the slow cooker
- Add your Osso Bocco to the slow cooker
- Add water to your discretion
- Set the slow cooker on 'low' and leave it until it's all stewed
We didn't have enough room for the pumpkins nor the zucchini, but this morning, there was enough room for some mushrooms that were bordering on going nasty, so I added those as well.
I'll probably be doing something with those later. Pumpkin Bolognese? I dunno yet.
[1] We found out that things got really easy with the thin slicer wheel. We just chucked things down the chute and let gravity do the rest. Not a recommended activity, I know.
It have to very tasty!!
Great cook and thank you for sharing.. :)
That's what stew is all about. Cooking is one of the best and quickest ways to preserve food a little longer. I'll bet that came out tasty.
