It is the eighth time that jammu and Kashmir has come under Governer’s Rule in the last four decades.The Governer had made the recommendation for the imposition of the Governer’s Rule after the Mehbooba Mufti government fell in the state Tuesday. Following the Bharatiya janata party’s move end its alliance with the peoples Democratic party.

New Delhi/ Srinagar : Jammu and Kashmir was brought under Governer’s Rule on Wednesday after president Ram Nath Kovind approved the recommendation forwarded by Governer NN Vohra. The Governer had made the recommendation on Tuesday after the Mehbooba Mufti Government fell in the state, following the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) decision to end its more than three- year-old alliance with the peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Governer Vohra had sent a report to the Union Ministry of Home Affairs after holding talks with all leading J&K politians following the dramatic development. CM Mufti had immediately resigned after the BJP announced its decision in New Delhi.
