But Mirissa, Sri Lanka, offers much more than just beautiful beaches; in fact, there are a ton of entertaining things to do there.

Having said that, without a tour guide, it can be challenging to identify some of the best activities to do or locations to see.
Due to this, during our most recent journey to Mirissa, we decided to delve a little deeper and learn about all of the city's most incredible sights - things that the majority of tourists overlook.

This is our list of the 10 best things to do in Mirissa, Sri Lanka.

Mirissa Beach

One of the most well-known beaches in Sri Lanka is Mirissa Beach, which is about a kilometer long and has enough of space for you to spread out your blanket and unwind for the day.
It is a lovely beach with a calm, carefree vibe.
This is among the top surf sites in Sri Lanka because of the occasionally large waves.

Go Surfing in Weligama

Although the surf at Mirissa Beach is good, many beginners find it to be far too rough.
Fortunately, Weligama Beach is nearby, and the waves there are ideal for learning to surf.
Anyone can learn to surf at Weligama Beach because to the abundance of surf schools there.
If you have prior experience, they also rent out boards.

Stilt Fishermen

Traditional fishing techniques in Sri Lanka include stilt fishing.
The men bob up and down while perched on wooden poles with a line dangling in the water.
They are attempting to catch spotted herrings and little mackerels.

Whale Watching

The southern coast of Sri Lanka transforms into the world's top location for whale watching from November to April.

Water Sports (wake boarding, jet skiing, tubing)

In Mirissa, a wide variety of watersports are available.
On the beach, you can approach a jet ski operator and choose to either ride a jet ski yourself or let them tow you on a wakeboard or tube.

Udawalawe or Yala National Park

Let's face it: if you've traveled to Mirissa Beach, you undoubtedly came for the beach, the waves, and the sun.
But if Mirissa is your sole stop in Sri Lanka or you just have a limited amount of time, you certainly must embark on a udawalawa safari from Mirissa.

Climb Coconut Tree Hill

Instagram users undoubtedly consider Coconut Tree Hill to be the most well-liked destination in Mirissa. This tiny hill is absolutely covered in coconut trees, which makes for a stunning picture.

Parrot Rock

Large boulder known as Parrot Rock is located near the mouth of Mirissa Bay. Climbing the rock is one of the nicest things to do since you get fantastic views of Mirissa Beach from the top.

Polhena Beach/ Turtle Beach

Only 7 miles separate Polhena Beach (also known as Turtle Beach) from Mirissa.
One of the top beaches on the southern coast, in my opinion. The tiny, tranquil harbor is home to about 15 turtles who live there permanently, and the entire beach is shielded from the waves by a reef.

Jungle beach - Unawatuna

My preferred spot to unwind during the day in Mirissa, Sri Lanka, is jungle Beach.
