I decided to start this Steemit in Yoruba thing a while ago, this is a furtherance of that cause, a few Yoruba proverbs that have been from time immemorial and lingers on, their transcriptions, meanings, usage, and definition.

PROVERB 1: Ogbón ológbón kìń jé ká pe àgbà ní wèrè

TRANSLATION

It literally translates to “someone else’s wisdom is what prevents us from calling an adult a madman/fool”, but the real interpretation is that there is wisdom in counsel

MEANING

This describes situations when an adult take certain steps or make certain moves or avoid certain things that seem in itself not wise considering the intended outcome , however someone else with previous experience, understands and helps us see that the adult is taking the best course of action with respect to certain things

USAGE/EXAMPLE

The most potent example or illustration I could give is this proverb itself, I always thought it did not make a lot of sense due to the fact that I was considering the literal interpretation, until someone helped me see the true meaning of it
