My trip to Khao Chamao Nationalpark(อุทยานแห่งชาติเขาชะเมา – เขาวง)

Khao Chamao National Park

This national park is located in the east of Thailand and got its name from the two mountains that are in this region. The National Park, with its considerable size of 84 square kilometers, is located approximately 70 kilometers from Rayong City and transfers from the province of Rayong to the province of Chanthaburi. The distance to Pattaya is about 125 kilometers.
Founded in 1975, Khao Chanao Khao Wong National Park is one of the country's oldest parks and boasts a varied natural environment, dense jungle and many waterfalls and rivers. Since there are so many streams, you should visit the park only outside the rainy season. During the monsoon months there are regular floods and small mudslides and the area is rather uninviting. The best time to visit Khao Chamao Khao Wong National Park is between November and April. Nature presents itself particularly impressively immediately after the rainy season, when it shows itself in lush green.

What awaits me at Khao Chamao National Park?

Here you can explore the evergreen rainforest on extensive trekking tours, which extends to a height of 1000 meters. This park is also very popular with birdwatchers as it offers home to over 50 different species of birds. Asian elephants, wild boars, deer, roe deer, leopards, shyness, langurs and gibbons can also be admired in their natural habitat. Thailand's breathtaking natural scenery can be seen in Khao Chamao National Park from its most beautiful and untouched side.

The highlights in Khao Chamao National Park

Not only the obviously visible fauna and flora can be admired in this national park. The absolute highlight are the many waterfalls, glades in the jungle, the natural swimming pools and the impressive caves. Definitely visit the Klong Pla Kang waterfall, which is located only 5 kilometers north of the headquarters. Here you can take a leisurely hike through jungle paths lined with colorful and fragrant orchids. Here you can swim and splash in the individual natural pools.

The Khao Chamao waterfall is probably the main attraction of the national park. He impresses with its 8 floors and its glittering in the middle of the jungle. Again, you can swim and relax in the shade of the trees from the hike.

The Khao Wong Caves are located approximately 5 kilometers southeast of Mount Chamao and the distance to the National Park Headquarters is approximately 20 kilometers. The limestone caves can be traversed on well-laid paths and admire their majestic height of up to 35 meters. Stalagmites and stalactites and many small holes in the walls, which let the sun inside the caves and create a true play of colors make the visits to the caves particularly appealing. In total there are more than 80 caves in the Khao Chamao Khao Wong National Park, but not every one can be entered.

The national park is also extremely popular with the Thai population and especially on the weekends and the Thai public holidays one must count on a high visitor volume. Outside these days, however, one enjoys absolute silence and heavenly peace, which was the case today.
