When I travel I always maintain a sideways eye looking extraordinary things to capture and keep. Roadside memorials are extraordinary because they tell two stories. One of tragedy and one of love.

As you stand before it you know in that very spot something horrific took place and lives were lost. That steel was torn, glass shattered and blood shed. Then after this place was cleared and mourned, it was adorned. Someone with pain in their hearts built something with love and continue to return and cherish it.

This stretch of highway is known as the Navajo Trail and it leads to Tuba City, AZ and the Navajo Nation.

There's no way to stand in these extraordinary spots and not imagine what happened or how it happened or why it happened.

While I'll share this image I'm going to keep those thoughts to myself.
