Thank you! I've heard that but never actually tried any myself. Your comment has led me into researching how to propagate and cook/prepare cactus now! There is some growing in a ditch not too far from my house. Too bad most of the ditches around here are ALSO filled with poison ivy...
I'll let you know if I end up getting some to eat, the one in the picture is in someone's yard so I'll be leaving that particular one alone.
Ha haa. Glad to jump-start a new project. Though don't take any of MY word on what is truly edible. Stick to people like @haphazard-hstead and other's for those things. I've heard some cacti are edible, at least some of the pads. And some look like that. But I'm only expert in a few things, like feeding the cat, making ends meet or riding my bike in a straight line and such. So good luck in the quest ( :
PS. check out the camel eating a cactus on Youtube/google. It's AMAZING. And hurts just to watch. But guess they do. Special mouth parts and all that. Yeowtch.
Almacenan gran cantidad agua dentro de lo que seria sus hojas, que son sus formar redondas con puas. dentro tienen agua para sobrevivir en sequia, son de climas áridos, y dan frutos, parecidos a la parchita por que tienen semillas dentro. saludos /div>
