History of Darjeeling Tea Garden.
History of Darjeeling tea garden:-
It is the initation of the British Governor General Lord Bentinck date back 1835. When Dr. Campbell, a civil surgeon, was transferred from Kathmandu to Darjeeling in 1839 that time he brought China tea seeds from kumaon hills in 1841 that time only 20 family was living in the entire hills of north India and he planted it near to his residence in his Beechwood garden in Darjeeling, which was above 2134 meters above sea level. After his grand success many others joined such as
Dr. Withcombe, Mr. James and Capt. Samlar.
