Loner on the dunes

Seaside, Oregon. I had just arrived in town and was hurrying down to the beach to catch the sunset when this lone tree growing in the middle of the dunes captured my attention. Tillamook Head (the promontory in the background) is covered with Sitka spruce but this little feller was a long ways away from there. I'd never known much of anything besides grass to grow on dunes so I was rather surprised to find a tree growing there (a couple days later I came across some elk grazing on the dunes, which was even more of a shock). This whole area seemed so calm and peaceful that I had to extend my stay a couple times. Hope you enjoy!
