Sleeping Volcan Baru During Rainy Season in Panama

in #landscapephotography6 years ago (edited)

The ever-present Volcan Baru watches over our town in rainy and dry season. During dry season, we were able to see it pretty much all day, every day. Since rainy season has started this last week, we haven't gotten a clear view of the volcano, except for a few minutes when it peeked through the clouds in the afternoon. He sleeps, and we hope he stays that way!

I find that a lot of my pictures involve the volcano. It's just the most unique thing about our place here. Not every house has a great view of the volcano, but we are blessed with this beautiful landscape right outside of our window!

On rainy afternoons, I am thankful for the sunny mornings most rainy season days start with! It's amazing how much rain soaks in around here and I can't wait to see everything green up again as the rains continue to come every afternoon! The rivers refill, the waterfalls return, and plants perk back up! Although most people wouldn't consider a cloudy day beautiful, we are thankful to have the rain back to refresh our ground!

he sends water on the countryside.

I'd love to go and see a volcano !

Panama has three of them I believe!

Let the volcano sleep.

Oh wow, this looks both enchanting and also a little intimated by the mountain hiding behind the grey gradient blanket of clouds...

Is this usual for rainy season approaching Summer? I had a wrong impression that this looked a little like Africa continent or Australia rural continent have I not later noticed the volcanic mountain in the shadows.

Yes, rainy season runs April to December every year. It starts off strong, has a lighter two months in the middle and ends really strong. It is kind of refreshing after months of no rain at all.

@apanamamama what you have posted are two rare photos of the before thunderstorm that many people likely has gone home. thanks for sharing

Nice photos! Yeah, good thing your volcano is in a sleepy mood. Does it erupt, occasionally? If so, I hope you have an evacuation plan in mind, just in case. Make sure the plan includes snapping an epic photo, though! :-)

It hasn't erupted in 500 years they say. It has been alive for 1600 years, and erupted four times. They say it's due! Yikes!! I definitely will snap a pic if something happens. No, I won't. I'll be long gone hopefully (as in already to the CR border or something...not as in already a pile of ashes!).

There are quite a few that are "due," including Mt Vesuvius and the Yellowstone super volcano. Hopefully yours decided to sleep in and hit whatever passes for a volcano snooze button...

Heya, yes, I mentioned it in the last Travel Digest, we'll have it fixed somewhere tomorrow normally!

You have such a great view of Baru. I was on the other side of the volcano. Are you getting as many rainbows in Volcan as they do in Boquete? I have been to Volcan only twice and it was sunny. ;0)

very beautiful photos, he looks quite high, luckily he is sleeping x

What a rare view you have there @apanamamama. Its never happen here at my place coz your place got volcanoes. I hope it still sleeping like a sleeping beauty. ;)
