Landfill Nannystate

Have you ever looked at your recycling blue wheely bin & thought, thats a lot of waste! what the hell are we filling it with every fortnight? No? Well I think it is time you did!
what do you think you will find in it? ...Empty beer cans, empty wine bottles? seriously take a look, you may get a reality shock of how much you are actually drinking!...But besides that what else are you bunging in there? Plastic water Bottles & plastic Juice bottles, empty pop cans/bottles?.....How much money have you spent on these drinks? not just this fortnight, but every fortnight?....You could buy a water purifier and drink water/hot drinks using a glass/cup that you can use time & time again. Keep looking at that waste, its a big pile, you can fit an awful lot in that wheely bin.....Plastic packaging will be the bulk of it I bet!.....That plastic bag from the apples another from the oranges, another from the carrots etc, etc..., plastic trays from the frozen food, plasic trays from biscuits, cakes, eggs, everything we buy (Nearly) has a plastic coating (Packaging), and it all gets tossed in that blue bin. And all those tins too...all processed food. then all the packaging that you get, when you buy the cuttlery to eat the food with, the tin opener too, any gadget that you buy these days comes in packaging and goes in this blue bin!
The convenience of a poor diet and life style, can be seen in your Blue wheely bin! But what is its cost? Count up the beer cans & wine bottles, make a note of it....times it by 24 and make a note of the total, a lot of money I imagine? (24 fortnights in a year). I am not calling anyone an alcoholic here or saying anything is wrong at all, you are in charge of what you do with your money & your body, but just have a look and see what you think, you may be suprised or quite shocked. Do the same with, frozen food packaging...is all your main meal food frozen? do you have a lot of frozen food packaging? again this is generally a choice to save time or to keep food longer to save on expense, is that your reason? when did you last make a meal from scratch? simple fresh (Real) food is what your body needs on a regular basis
That Blue bin, will give you a lot of insight to what you are doing with your life! It will tell you what Junk you are feeding your body, convenient food is not good for you, its good for the seller of the food! Because It stores for a long time. Its not good for you, especially on a regular basis because it is highly processed and developed with excessive amounts of salts and fats.
That Blue bin allows us to throw all that packaging away & not think about it again, after reading this you might just carry on with that nanny state line of thought & just enjoy consuming on a vast scale and have someone pick up the mess afterwards leaving you to start you fortnightly process all over again.....or you might be one of the few who actually go out and really take a good look at what you are contributing to this throw away society we are not only living in but are ourselves creating! You might think wow all those things I bought (quite a few I didn`t even need, and tossed away befor the fortnight was up), wow am I even eating any real food or is everything processed? Am I drinking too much alcohol/fizzy drinks etc? Can I use my money more wisely, look after myself better & create less waste all at the same time?......could I reuse anything I am actually throwing away? Jars, containers etc.
In the end what you do place in that bin and leave there to be collected, will probably find its way into a Landfill and be burried, out of mind out of sight. But what happens when we run out of space to bury anymore....aparently there is already a shortage of space for grave space, so I cant see it being that long before they run out of space to bury Plastic polutants. We cant stop creating waste altogether but we can be more responsible for our own individual waste.
