FREE LAND - JUST RELOCATE TO RUSSIA

in #land7 years ago

Do you dream of having your own land to farm, homestead, or just raise a family or even retire out in the countryside? I know I do. Yet the cost in so many places is truly prohibitive. It puts this dream far out of the reach of many people.

Well how does a free hectare, which is about 2.5 acres sound?

To more than 93,000 applicants so far of Putin's version of The Homestead Act, pretty darn good! All you have to do is move to the remote reaches of Russia.

You don't have to be Russian either, the only catch for foreign applicants is that if you want full property ownership rights, you must apply to become a naturalised Russian citizen after a year and be willing to stay on your land for at least 5 years.

When asked whether the free land program in Russia’s Far East could be expanded to other regions, Putin answered “there is enough land in Russia. Forty-three million hectares of farmland alone are not used for their intended purpose. These are huge, just huge land reserves.” “The geography is wide: Moscow, Moscow Region, Lipetsk region, Tatarstan, Bashkortostan, practically all of central Russia wants land in Kamchatka. It makes me happy. Those who want land here will get it,” the regional governor said.

Within the first year, the recipients must declare how they want to use the land, and, in three years, must report on how it is being developed. The regions included in this program are Yakutia, Kamchatka, Chukotka, Primorye, Khabarovsk, Amur, Magadan, and Sakhalin, as well as the Jewish Autonomous Region. The land can be used for any lawful purpose, but the new owners cannot rent, sell, or give the land away for five years.

Most of the Russian applicants say they want to use the land to build a home, while others want to farm or raise cattle and some plan on building hotels or tourist related businesses.

Those hoping for a life of luxury, however, need not apply. The area has minimal infrastructure and the climate can be extreme with bitterly cold winters and hot summers.

Still though, the landscape is stunning and for some people this might be an incredible opportunity/adventure.

Here's the official website: https://надальнийвосток.рф/. It's in Russian, of course.
Any Steemers thinking of taking Mr. Putin up on his offer?

Wow! A real frontier? Thanks for sharing, you've got my imagination soaring...

@creatr

You're very welcome! There are some amazing wide open spaces there and it certainly looks like it could be the chance of a lifetime for some people. Russia seems to be doing a lot of things right lately too, such as banning GMO crops and supporting organic agriculture.

Interesting. Where else is there free land?

I actually know someone who might~
I really hope people don't simply take the land and make cattle ranches though, it'd be such a waste of such an amazing landscape and doom it to be tainted and be forever unpopulated but at the same time not wild.

I think that's probably one reason why the parcels are relatively small, because it would be prohibitive for huge herds of cattle---and more conducive to small farms and family homesteads. It seems like this could be a great deal for the right sort of person. Let me know how your friend does with this---it would be a great blog, that's for sure

Bring a coat ;)

That's for sure. And some muk luks, wool socks, down blankets, and a few husky dogs.

Thank you for this very interesting post, but would not work for me, there is no religious freedom.
