We come from Croatia for us one of the most beautiful countries in the world and today we will present you the National Park Plitvice Lakes, which are on the UNESCO World Heritage List. We must first mention that Business Insider has included it on the list of 27 natural world wonders!

Plitvice Lakes are the oldest and the largest national park of the Republic of Croatia. The park is located in the Croatian mountains, between the mountain range of the Small Chapel in the west and the northwest and Lička Plješivica in the southeast. It is administratively located in the Lika-Senj County (90.7%) and Karlovac County (9.3%).

With its exceptional natural beauty, this area has always attracted nature lovers, so it was proclaimed the first national park in Croatia on April 8, 1949. The process of self-assertion, which creates sedge barriers and creates lakes, represents a unique universal value for which
Plitvice Lakes received international recognition on October 26, 1979, by joining the UNESCO World Heritage List. In 1997 the area of ​​the National Park was expanded and has occupied an area somewhat less than 300 km2.

It is important to note that every year a record of attendance is made. Numerous foreign media are writing about it: for example, Business Insider has included Plitvice Lakes on the list of 27 amazing natural wonders that can be seen wandering around Europe.

The park is mostly covered with forest vegetation, smaller part of the lawns, and the most interesting and attractive part of Park Lake, occupy only slightly less than 1% of the Park area.
The lake system consists of 16 named and several small, cascading arranged lakes. Due to the geological basis and the characteristic hydrogeological conditions, the lake system is divided into Upper and Lower Lakes. Prošćansko lake, Ciginovac, Okrug, Batinovac, Veliki lake, Little lake, Vir, Galovac, Milino lake, Gradinsko lake, Burgeti and Kozjak are twelve lakes that make up the Gornja lakes, formed on impermeable dolomites. The upper lakes are more spacious, indented and lighter than the lower lakes. The lower lakes, which make up the lakes of Milanovac, Gavanovac, Kaluđerovac and Novaković Brod, were formed in a permeable limestone base cut into a narrow canyon of steep slopes. The lakes end with imposing waterfalls at the Suburbs, at the foot of which begins the flow of the Korana River.
