In a fixed mindset
Mindset: Mindset refers to the set of beliefs, attitudes, and perspectives that individuals hold, which shape how they perceive and respond to the world around them. There are two main types of mindset that psychologist Carol Dweck popularized: fixed mindset and growth mindset.
In a fixed mindset, people believe their abilities and traits are static and cannot be changed, leading to a fear of failure and avoidance of challenges. In contrast, a growth mindset involves the belief that abilities can be developed through effort and learning, fostering resilience, perseverance, and a willingness to embrace challenges.
