Bovitiya - බෝවිටියා

I captured these photographs while walking in the jungle near to my house in Galle. I thought to share them with you.This beautiful plant can be found only on island of Sri Lanka. It's endemic to the island. This is a bright purple flower , it's beautiful. Actually there are two types of bovitiya , heen bovitiya (Osbeckia octandra )and maha bovitiya . The one I captured in the jungle is Maha bovitiya. This plant is medically very valuable. Anually lot of foreigners get caught trying to steal this plant.
