WHAT MAKES THE DIFFERENCE?

in #krishna6 years ago

Talking with a devotee friend who is considering traveling to holy places (again) I told her I wasn't so interested in places. I become enlivened by the association of certain devotees.

My devotee friend insists that chanting is what gives ecstasy. I had to disagree. There are many, many people chanting Hare Krishna who are not experiencing ecstasy. And they sometimes chant for many, many lifetimes, hundreds or thousands of lifetimes. So it is only common sense that there is another factor for ecstasy.

It is not simply the mechanical act of moving mouth and lips and tongue and running air through the vocal cords. What makes the difference is chanting of Hare Krishna in the association of ecstatic devotees. Association of devotees who are absorbed in "tasting" the bliss of the incarnation of Godhead as Radha Krishna in the form of His Holy Names. They are sometimes seen to laugh madly, cry incessantly and dance like madmen and madwomen.
