[책, 짧은 글] 순간접속 시대의 읽기
아이들의 경우 처리할 정보는 점점 늘어나는 반면 그것을 처리할 시간은 줄어들면서 아이의 주의와 기억의 발달에 최대 위협이 되기 십상입니다. 그렇게 되면 보다 정교한 읽기와 사고의 발달과 사용에도 심각한 역작용이 초래됩니다. 깊이 읽기 회로의 모든 것은 상호의존적이니까요. 만약 아이들이 구글과 페이스북 같은 외부의 지식원에 점점 더 의존하게 되면서 내면에 누적되는 지식이 줄어든다면, 그들이 이미 아는 것과 처음으로 읽는 것들 사이에서 유사성을 발견하고 정확한 추론을 끌어내는 능력에도 중대한 변화가 일어날 것입니다. 아이들은 자신들이 뭔가를 안다고만 생각할 테지요.
