Travel to Seoul 2017 서울 首尔
Welcome to Seoul, an ancient city founded in 18BC.
The following is a photo story of my first day in Seoul.
Be prepared for a lot of pictures.
The pictures of the statues of King Sejong (the king who invented the korean alphabet) and general Yi Sun-sin (famous Korean general who defeated the Japanese navy of 133 ships with only 13 ships at the Battle of Myeongnyang in 1597) were taken at Gwanghwamun, the main gate of the Gyeongbokgung Palace.
I then entered the Gyeongbokgung Palace which was the main palace of the Joseon dynasty (1392-1897). The palace was destroyed twice by the Japanese (first time in 1592, second time in the early 19th century) and subsequently restored.
After exiting the Gyeonbokgung Palace, you can see the Cheong Wa Dae (Blue House, the Presidential Residence) and its surroundings.
At the end of the day we visited Hongdae, one of the most popular hangout spots for the younger generation, with lots of restaurants, clubs, and night markets. I also show you some Korean food that I ate in a restaurants here.
If you would like to see a video of today, here's a video version.
