원래는 루마니아 이야기로 찾아뵈야 했지만,
오랜만에 태국이야기에 대해 써보려고 합니다.

  but I want to talk about my story in Thailand in this article.

저는 7년간 태국 방콕에서 살았고, 지금은 현재 독일 뮌헨에 살고있습니다.
내년엔 다시 태국으로 돌아가야 하는 실정인데, 내년엔 방콕생활기에 대해 서술해야 할 것 같습니다. 그에 앞서 태국에서 생활했던 경험, 팁에 대해 말씀드리겠습니다.

• I have been living in Bangkok, Thailand for the past 7 years, and currently living in Munich, Germany.
  I think I am going back to Thailand next year, then I will keep writing about my life in Thailand.
  In this article, I would like to share about my experiences and some tips for living in Bangkok.

제가 왜 7년이나 살았고, 왜 태국으로 갔느냐라고 궁금하신분들이 많을텐데요,
사실 저도 잘 모르겠습니다. 어떻게해서 태국까지 가게됬는지.

• A lot of people have asked me why did I move to Thailand and why for 7 years.
  For my answer, I have no idea as well how did I flow into Thailand.

중학교를 마치고 미국에서 두달간 살았던 적이 있었습니다.
제 가장친한 친구의 누나이자 저에게 스팀잇을 알려주신 @xinnong 님 집에서 살았었습니다.

• Once I had been in the United States for a couple of months after finishing the middle school curriculum in Korea.
  I stayed with my bestie(s) and @xinnong who is his sister and also introduced me Steemit.

어린마음이었지만 약 60일이라는 시간은 정말 소중한 시간이었고,
아, 언젠간 다시 미국땅에와서 살아야지 라는 생각을 가지고 다시 한국으로 돌아갔습니다.

• Even though I was so young at the moment, the sixty days in the United States were all precious memory for me
  Then I go back to Korea with a vision "I will come back here again"

그때부터 머리에 들었던 생각은
"아, 미국가서 살려면 언어를 해야겠구나"라는 생각과 함께 한국을 떠나기 위한 준비를 했습니다.
그러다 처음엔 뉴질랜드로 가려고 했었으나, 부모님의 필사적인 반대로 뉴질랜드는 갈 수 없었습니다.

• Since then, I started to keep reminding myself
  "If I am really planning to go to the U.S. again, I must learn the language first" then planned to leave Korea.
  Then my desirable direction at first was on New Zealand but it was totally failed due to the severe objection of my parents.

그리고 그해 겨울, 우연히 태국이라는 곳에 가게 됩니다.
교회에서 선교를 갔었는데요,
그때 우연히 한 분을 만났고, 그분이 방콕소재의 한 국제학교의 이사장으로 계셨었습니다.
그렇게 태국을 갔다온지 2 개월만에 한국에서 모든걸 정리하고 태국을 갔습니다.

• In the winter, I accidentally visited to Thailand on a purpose of mission trip from my church.
  In Thailand, I could encountered a man who was a chairman in an international schol in Bangkok
  Then I decided to move to Bangkok after 2 months since I came back home.

나중에 알게된 사실이지만 태국은 전세계에서 국제학교가 가장 많은 나라입니다.
약 100여개가 넘는 국제학교가 있으며, 이는 태국이 인도차이나 중심에 위치해 있기 때문에,
국제기구, 비정부기구, 다국적기업들의 아시아 헤드쿼터로 요긴하기 때문입니다.

• I knew this later but it is true that Thailand has the largest number of international schools in the world.
  There are at least more than 100 international schools and it is because of the geographical advantage since Thailand is located in the center of Indochina.
  As a result, IGOs, NGOs, and MNCS prefer to have their headquarter in Bangkok

자 그럼 국제학교의 학비는 얼마였을까요?

Let's get to know about the tuition fee of international schools.

스티머분들이 나이가 있기 때문에, 자녀 교육문제들에 대해서 궁금하신게 많으리라 믿습니다.
그래서 이 이야기를 나누고 싶습니다.

• Because I believe that some Steemers are concerning about child's education, particularly about study-abroad, I would like to talk about this topic.

각 학교마다 다릅니다. 100개의 학교의 학비가 다 다릅니다.
저렴한 학교는 연 1000만원 하는 곳도 있고,
비싼학교는 연 5000만원까지 합니다.
제가 맨처음 갔을때 환율이 1바트에 40원이었기 때문에
학비적인 부담이 많이 컸었죠.

• The tuition fee varies from school to school.
  The cheap one would be $10,000 for a year
  but the expensive one would be $50,000 for a year
  When I first went there, the exchange rate was 40 won per baht.
  It was a lot of financial burden.

국제학교는 일반적으로 영국식/미국식으로 나뉘고,
커리큘럼에 따라 수업방식이 달라집니다.
영어를 맨 처음 못해도 됩니다
ESL 과정을 통해 체계적으로 영어학습을 시켜주고
정규과정을 병행해 줍니다
ESL과정을 병행해서 들을 시 별도의 추가금이 있습니다.

• International schools are generally divided as English or American curriculum.
  It is okay if you don't speak English because the schools have a special program called ESL (English as Second Language). The program will help the student to improve the language as well as s/he will be able to study the regular course as well.
  But, there will be additional price for the ESL program.

또 다른 사실, 저는 태국에서 대학교를 다닙니다.

Another fact, I went to the university in Thailand

네 저는 미국이나 한국으로 대학교를 가지 않았습니다.
어쩌면 가지 못했던 것일수도 있죠.
SAT를 봤지만 미국 대학교를 갈 형편이 안되었던 것 같습니다.
한국 대학은 제가 준비를 하지 않아 갈 수가 없었습니다.
그래서 현지 대학교로 진학을 했습니다.
다행히, 태국정부가 싱가폴의 고등교육시스템을
20년 전부터 모방하기 시작했고,
영어로 수업하는 프로그램이 많아졌습니다.
대학교를 가서도 계속 영어로 수업할 수 있었고,
학업적인 부분에서 크게 어려운 점은 없었던 것 같습니다.

• I did not go to the university in either in Korea or in the United States.
  I took SAT test but I wasn't able to afford the tuition fee in the United States
  as well as was not ready to go to the university in Korea.
  Fortunately, Thai government started to imitate Singapore's higher education system to internationalize the Thai higher education system yet it benefited me. I could continue to study in English at the University.

태국 대학교의 학비는 대학교 마다 상이하지만,
제가 아는 선에선 1학기 기준 160만원 ~ 500만원 선입니다.

• The tuition fee of Thai universities also differ from university to university
  I think it will be between 1,500 USD and 5,000 USD per semester.

어디서 살았나요?

Where do I live ?

국제학교를 다녔을때는 기숙사가 있었습니다.
별도의 돈을 내면 모든걸 해결해 주는 그런 곳이었습니다.
체계적인 시스템에, 거의 군대같은 생활을 해야 했습니다.

• When I went to the international school, it was a boarding school
  If students come from abroad or far away in different provinces,
  students could stay in the dormitory as long as they paid more money
  It was very systematic but was similar to military time schedule.

대학교를 가고 나서는 자취를 했습니다
제가 다니는 학교는 왕궁과 카오산로드 중간에 있습니다.
트립어드바이저에 꼭 가야하는 명소에 오르기도 했고,
학식을 먹으로 많은 외국인들이 방문합니다.

• When I went to the University, I rent an apartment nearby the university
  My university is located in between the Grand Palace and Kaosan Road
  It was also listed in one of the MUST-VISIT place in tripadvisor
  yet a lot of tourists visit to have a lunch in the canteen.

위치가 위치인 만큼 저는 강건너서 살았었는데요,
룸피니 (Lumpini)라는 건설회사에서 지은 룸피니 콘도에서 살았었습니다.
원룸 /원베드룸/ 투베드룸 이렇게 나누어져 있는데요
원베드룸 기준 약 14평정도 되는 것 같습니다.

• Since it was kinda difficult to commute from the city center, I had to live across the river.
  The apartment where I lived was LUMPINI condo.
  They had three different types of rooms; Studio, one bed room, and two beds room.

한달 월세는 약 34만원 정도 했구요,
태국이 좋은점은 보증금이 크지 않습니다
월세의 두달치에 상응하는 금액을 보증금으로 내면 됩니다.

• The rent was $340 per month
  One good thing is that you only need to put little deposit
  deposit is equal to the two months rent for the room

시설은 수영장, 헬스장이 별도로 있고 보안이 완벽한 콘도였습니다.

The facilities were great. There was Swimming pool, Gym, and it was totally safe

한달 생활비는요?

How much did I spend a month?

여러분들은 보통 태국여행을 올때 얼마를 들고오시나요?
1인 비행기값 포함 100만원정도 들고오시나요?

• I want to ask how much do you bring when you come to travel Thailand?
  Around $1000 including your flight ticket?

저는 한달생활비로 약 100만원을 썻는데요,
예전엔 환율때문에 약 25,000바트였지만
최근엔 약 30,000바트의 생활비를 썼습니다.

• I spent around $1000 per month
  It was 25,000 baht before but has increased to 30,000 baht due to the exchange rate

이 돈으로
주거비 + 식비 + 교통비 + 용돈 등을 다 썼는데요,
한달에 100만원이면 쓰고도 남는 돈이었습니다.

• I could manage the rent, foods, transportation, and other expense within the money
  It was more than enough to live in Bangkok with $1,000

뭐타고 다니세요?

How do I commute?

예전엔 택시만 타고 다녔습니다.
택시만 타면 뭐라도 되는줄 알고 택시만 타고 다녔고
버스를 타면 부끄러운줄 알았었습니다
얼마나 어린 생각이었나요
군대를 다녀오고 철이 많이 들었습니다
그때부터는 버스를 타고 다닙니다.
물론, 바쁠때, 버스연결이 안될때는 택시를 타기도 하지만
되도록이면 버스를 타고 다니려 합니다

• Before going to the military service, the only transportation I used was cap
  I was young and thought that it is shy to take a bus
  When I finished the service, I think I was little more mature than before.
  Since then, I always took a bus.
  Of course, when I was busy or in a remote area, I took a cap but I prefer to take a bus

버스비는 9바트 ~ 13바트를 합니다
9바트 짜리는 에어컨이 없는 버스이고
13바트짜리는 에어컨이 있는 버스입니다.

• Bus price also varies from bus to bus
  Bus without A/C is 9 baht while bus with A/C is 13 baht

택시를 예로 들면,
기본요금은 35바트입니다,
첫 1키로까지는 과금이 되지 않으며
1키로 부터 400m당 2바트씩 올라갑니다
차가 정차해 있을때 별도의 금액이 올라가는데요
1분 30초간 2바트씩 올라갑니다.

• For Taxi fare,
  It starts from 35 Baht
  it does not exceed until it reaches to the first 1 KM
  then, it will increase 2 baht per 400 baht
  When car stops, it also charges you
  it is 2 baht for every 1'30 mins when car stopped
