다시 시작하는 영어공부 - TED talks 3분 듣기(6일차)

네이버 블로그 이웃 분이 영어 공부한다니까 추천해주신 영상인데 테드 맨체스터라 강연자가 영국 사람이라 미국식 영어에 익숙한 나에게는 극강의 난이도를 보여주고 있다.

일주일 넘게 안하다가 다시 시작했다.

역시 공부는 작심삼일이 제 맛?!

[내용 요약]
경제 기자인 강연자가 미니멀리즘을 접하고 소비 없는 한 해를 보낸 소감을 이야기하고 있다.
주택담보대출이라든지 수도요금, 인터넷 사용요금 등 본인 기준에서 필수적인 지출은 유지하고 그 외에는 꼭 필요한 부분만 지출했다고 한다.
이런 강연을 보다보면 느끼는 것은 무엇이든 꾸준히 해야한다는 것이다.
심지어 매일 같은 시간에 낮잠을 자도 깨달은 것이 있다면 그건 강연할만한 거 같다.
그만큼 무엇인가를 꾸준히 한다는 것은 매우 힘들다!!

we have imported from U.S
even though we don't have thanks giving

and instead of going out and (squabbling with ) your ( neighbors for cut-price Telly's )
in the supermarket or the shopping center, you buy nothing!
you spend time with your kids
you read a book
you go for a walk
whatever (it is doesn't cost ) you any money

I thought "What (a) brilliant idea is that could do (it) for a year" and so I did

The idea of a no spend day by giving up spending it would force me to live a different life

and it ( would address two concerns ) (I was) having
the first one was (that) I wasn't making (the) most of my money
the embarrassing bit being (that I by trade) (I'm) a finacial journalist

and I('ve) spent ten years
telling (everyone) what to do with (their) money
and I wasn't (actually) taking any responsiblity for my own

the second thing was my role (as a consumer )
I was really sick of that being (my) only purpose

that I (would) go to work for 8 hours
to earn money
to buy things,
(that I was told would make) me happy
(but we're all told by) this (one) is what you need in your life

then it didn't make me happy
and I'd go back to work for another 8 hours
(so) more money
to buy different things (that I was then told) would make me happy

then I was spending money
to reapair, and insure, and replace
those things that weren't make me happy

so my no spend day started on black friday 2015
and there were some roles
so I had to pay for the things I had to pay for

I had to pay my mortgage
my water (rates)
my (council tax)

I also paid my broadband and my mobile cause I'm freelance
( 무지하게 빠르다 욕나올 정도로ㅋㅋ 농담인데 못 알아먹음!! )
I wasn't been (out to work and it really would have been a no spend year)

and I also kept paying (things like) charatable contributions
and had very small food budget or grocery budget
so 3 meals a day plus very basic toiletaries and basic claeaning (product) for house
clothes washing powder things like that

and it would be extreme (way!!) to find out what (could) I do without but also
I really needed to live a happy life

and (it was hard going!)

mostly because I didn't give myself any transport budget
so I cycled everywhere for a year and spent a lot of time looking like that
and a lot time (looking like that)

but I found (it was from over) those 12 months
It was a real live now and
l learned a lot in being extremely ( frugal )

I still had a life
that's the amazing part I had

(I) found so many new way to have fun
and to socialize
to still be the person I was before.
