Ethereum Classic Gas Fee Spike 가스 요금 스파이크

Ethereum Classic developers have been constantly arguing on Discord after the 51% attack on the network.

After many days of argument everyone basically decided to do nothing and hope people will place their attention on something else.

Their reasoning is that code is law meaning that no matter what happens to the crypto it will not be changed at all.

It was first stated by their declaration of independence that they would not fork the chain in order to preserve the original chain and all transactions on it securing users assets which is logical.

It seems these ideals have expanded to the code itself which means that there are no plans to improve upon the code at all. For example on ETC Roadmap there was a plan to implement sharding which would have increase their network speed by a lot.

After months of arguments it has since been taken off the ETC Roadmap. Developers are instead going to implement sidechains in order to scale the network which will increase transactions speeds but not as much as sharding would have.

Devs have chosen not to implement sharding because they did not want to have masternodes.

They believe that masternodes would have centralized the network too much which contradicts Ethereum Classic core values of decentralization.

It is now obvious why ETC Labs hostile takeover of the github account" took place. ETC developers are highly divided which that in itself weakens Ethereum Classic.

The weakness of the ETC network was noticed by someone who has raised transactions fees to around seven American dollars. The fee went from around seventy cents to seven dollars in a twenty four hour period.

There is an ability on ETC to use gas instead of ETC in order to save on transactions. There is only one problem which is if an exchange does not place a limit on the amount of gas they are willing to pay for a transaction or a limit on how much can be spent from their funds an exchange could be drained through fees.

The network hashrate has increase significantly. It is likely the attacker is mining to collect the high fees that have been transmitted.

Currently some think that the gas fee spike is an attempt to protect the network from further attack, do that seems to be a new excuse to ignore an obvious vulnerability that has been exploited.

It is a good thing that Ethereum Classic Labs has created a new ETC Core Development Team who will focus on improving Ethereum Classic.

ETC Labs is funded by the crypto arm of Foxconn which is a big tech giant in Asia. ETC Labs involvement in Ethereum Classic is a good sign that there are some serious people who will develop ways to protect the protocol.
