Singapore's Foreign Minister is going to North Korea before the trump-Kim meeting

The information was provided by the Singapore Foreign Ministry in a statement Wednesday. Foreign Minister Balakrishnan said that he will visit North Korea on Thursday and Friday.

US President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un will meet in a Singapore hotel on June 12, said the White House.

The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) have said that Singapore airspace will be 'restricted' on 11, 12 and 13 June.

Balakrishnan will go to North Korea's Supreme Pipes assembly and meet the country's orthodox President Kim Young Nama.

Last month both the United States and North Korea agreed to organize a meeting in Singapore.

At the time, the White House said the reason for choosing Singapore was to explain that the country would provide security to both the leaders and ensure a neutral environment to organize meetings.

Singapore has diplomatic relations with both North Korea and United States.

However, after suspending US sanctions last year, Singapore suspended all commercial ties with North Korea since last year. But North Korea still continues the embassy in the country.

Earlier, in 2008, the then Foreign Minister of Singapore George Yao visited North Korea.
