Great photographs! And thanks for the breakdown of events that took place over the course of the wars. The politics of war are really interesting. It’s definitely strange that Russia is currently the most “responsible” lol

Btw, is this the memorial by Yongsan Airbase? I was stationed in Korea for two years in 2007-2009.

China and America are the only things holding them back from round 2 now. Russia is pretty much out of the picture.

It's right next to Yongsan or on the corner of the base. Thanks for serving!

Wow!! That was quite the tour!! I have always felt sad for the region. Never at peace and always being swapped and swapped back and tearing the buildings down to build more Japanese type buildings and now Korea tearing those down.

Can we have a do-over?

The marches and everything going on now in protest in Seoul? I understand, but, I want peace. Can you take out the man for a while? He doesn't need to be visiting anyone. :)

Love the big guns. :)

The worst part of the region is unlike the moddle east, they don't really want war with eachother. There is none of that religion inspired genocide going on. Its just serious nationalism, hundreds of years of mistrust economic competition and thousands of years of distinct culture. Actually, I guess that's some good reasons.

For the most part other than some independence fighters (the most famous of whom were all communists), they hate their modern history. It will be interesting to see what happens now that China is really starting to dominate the region again.

I do get that and it is better that it is not religion-inspired. That brings out the worst and best of all of us.

Extreme nationalism is what they are left with, especially when I give a read back on their history. I am not so sure I look forward to what is coming down the line. :(

I wish them well to find that place of peace for the next generations. If only the world would allow that.

They won't find peace because they refuse to look at the issue with objective reasoning. Someone else isbalways at fault. If japan isn't being boycotted, China or America is. The other is always at fault. Then there are the same internal divisions as in America and it's also becoming more and more polarizing to no one's advantage.

It is a really strange exhibit, but a great post and photos!

I doubt there is another exhibit like this anywhere else, with so many various aircraft, machines and pieces of equipment. It looks like they have a display of just about every piece of equipment used in that war. It seems almost as though the Korean war memories and equipment are now a tourist attraction.

It is next to the main memorial and the inside museum which is why there are so many war machines. The memorial itself is much more serene until you realize that the million or so names are all soldiers who died in the conflict.

War memorial looks really interesting and so full. Thanks for the history lesson, i was not familiar with the details of the event.

Thank you for appreciating the War Memorial. It's not the most popular war out there, I guess.

Hoping for all becoming responsible.

Thanks for the well-written review!

Thanks. I don't suspect we are headed in this direction. The news is full of hate and violence.

I hate war, but I must say that I love the history and the class you have given us today, excellent images!
Happy day!

Thanks. I don't really think anyone healthy loves war.

Those are some great pictures, and great history to go with it! "Korea has the most unfortunate neighbors." What a great statement.

Another of the issues tit-for-tat retaliations is that they become tit-for-tat-for-tit-for-tat-for-tit-etc-etc-etc to the point no one can even remember what the initial issue was, only that "they" are wrong and "we" are right.

Life would certainly be easier if we all just sat down and had a beer together.

Propaganda and nationalism have completely covered up the true reasons. The only thing for certian is they won't forgive or forget. A common expression is "Forgotten history is doomed to be repeated." However, I suspect most people saying this aren't exactly looking for unbiased or objective truth.
