Journey to Klis Fortress: Unveiling History and Surprises (1/2)
Upon our Taxi's arrival at the entrance of Klis Fortress, we proceeded to the castle's gate. The payment, albeit steep, intrigued me as they unexpectedly accepted card transactions. The date was March 13th, 2020, when we convened at a Hostel in Split, embarking on a day's journey encompassing the amphitheater, the ancient city of Salona, and ultimately Klis.
As we stood before the gate, freshly paid admission in hand, the vastness of the fortress eluded me, unaware of its grandeur and its connection to "Game of Thrones." A remarkable chronicle unfolded within its walls, spanning from Ottoman times to its iconic role in the show. The stroll through its history-laden pathways evoked a palpable sense of antiquity, accompanied by faint echoes of clashing swords.
