STEEM powered KIVA Loan Update
This is an update on KIVA loans funded from my previous KIVA UPDATE posts that have allowed me to fund 3 x US$25 KIVA loans from the rewards.

And hope I can add another US$12.50 to bring my KIVA lending pool up to US$25 and allow me to support another project.

Its a wonderful idea that you have found out. So essentially you are generating funds here and then sending that to Kiva to support people right ?
I have been a lender on KIVA long before Steemit but Steemit rewards have allowed me to add more to my lending pool.

Do these loans gain you any interest and have you had any problems yet with people not paying back loans?
No you don’t receive interest. Any interest is payed to the field partner to assist their operation costs. There is the risk of default and currency loss. I have had 1 Loan end in default and a couple of minor currency losses. KIVA relies on donations for their operation costs and you are prompted to make a donation at the time of making a loan. It isn’t compulsory but the platform needs to be funded in some way.

KIVA is a non profit that facilitates loans to people who have an idea or project in many developing countries around the world. The funds are provided by people like me who want to help others a bit more directly than just giving a donation to an NGO. Giving amounts are in US$25 lots so one Loan is funded by many supporters.
