"Radiant Red Camellias."

This is my entry for the KillerPix📷Contest #34 Theme: "May Flowers."

Camelia is a genus of flowering plants in the Theaceae family and are from eastern and southern Asia, the Himalayas, Japan and Indonesia.

The four main types of camellias are Sasanqua, Japonica, Reticulata and the Sinensis. The Japonica is the most recognizable of the four with its dark, glossy leaves and wide smooth petals of various shades. There are over 20,000 particular species of this type.

They can tolerate light frosts, prefer a little shade as they need protection from hot, drying conditions. Camelias are characterized by their dense shrubs and brilliant foliage. They bloom for long periods and are 0ften planted as garden hedges or screens for privacy.
