Discovering Croatia - The Church Of St. Nicholas

in #killerpix7 years ago

The church is located near the small town called Nin, and it is the only surviving example of early Romanesque architecture in all of Dalmatia. It was built at the beginning of the 12th century and is dedicated to Saint Nicholas.

According to legend, seven Croatian Kings were crowned in the church. After the coronation, they were obliged to ride with their escort to the church where they would be presented to the people, and, as a sign of royal power, would incise all four sides of the world with their sword…

Nowadays it is a recognisable symbol of Nin, and Croatia. During the summer it’s visited by tourists on a regular basis. However, this picture was taken in May, so the person walking to the church was able to find some piece of mind…

Once I stopped being annoying with my camera, of course... :)

Cheers,
Nino.

Good quality, original photo posts are hard to come by on steemit. This is one of them. Great talent! Very nice camera also.

Thank you very much for your kind words. I agree, it's hard to find quality. And to be honest, I've seen some really crappy content earning big rewards... I am still trying to figure out how and why...
Cheers

Wow! I think you captured the history of that one....or was I influenced by your words. I suppose both. Very powerful. You have quite an eye.

Thank you very much for your kind words
