Must admit I was pretty surprised when I visited Giza how close it is to the city. I expected it to be miles out in the desert, couldn't be further from the truth. I guess that's people typically photograph it from the opposite side so they don't see the massive city in the background.
Well, people are concentrated on pyramids, while good photographer always DO SEE the background :D
