KillerPix Contest # 24 .- The orange sphere of Caracas
This is my entry to the @killerwhale contest.
I show you the sphere of Caracas, a great sphere in kinetic art that is emblematic in the city.
The sphere of Caracas is one of the most important pieces on an urban scale and is one of the capital's artistic landmarks. It was inaugurated in 1997.
It is composed of a set of 1,800 hollow quarter-inch aluminum rods held in place by stainless steel guayas 2.5 millimeters thick, suspended from a 12-metre high metal structure. These orange-coloured rods together create the image of the floating sphere that can be seen from the city's main motorway.
