A question left behind?
The Asian games are over and there are many heartwarming story and inspirational moments created. May be all of them are not getting the spotlight but their efforts were not just lasser than that of stories rolled out in mainstream media.
I am touch and inspired with that of two story Hima Das, better known as Assam express and The golden girl Swapna Barman who clinch Gold in women's heptathlon event at the 2018.
Hima Das was truly a star as she was just a sports person, initially she played womans football and before a months back she participated international track event, actually she practice for 200 m race but at the final moment her coach suggest her to running on 400 metre and she win in that event. It was just an month before Asian games 2018. She even not able to buy a proper shoes for herself. Suddenly From government side she was getting recognition.
Again the Swapna Barman who participated and won the Gold in The women's heptathlon event, I was not ever heard about this event eirlier. She was the first Indian who win a Gold medal in this event. She belongs to a very poor family, her father was rickshaw puller and mother was a day labour. In the name of facilities, we can say she get nothing.
India is almost second largest population in the world but We have 8 the position in medal list in Asian game 2018.
What our player doing is remarkable, they not only play a game but also struggle against every odds of life. I salute them.
Biggest question in my mind is Why we are in 8 position in Medal list, which is comes after countries like Iran, Uzbekistan and Indonesia.?
Why players are only recognise after Gold medal?
Why still the mainstream media houses avoiding their story in prime time?
Why mainstream media houses wholday program on cricket but not in other sports?
