আমাদের গোমতী ব্রিজ
হোয়াং হো নদীকে এক সময় বলা হতো চিনের দু:খ আর কুমিল্লার দু:খ ছিলো প্রমত্তা গোমতী নদী। প্রতিবছর গোমতী নদীর বাঁধ ভেংগে হাজার হাজার একর ফসলী জমি তলিয়ে যেতো, ডুবে যেতো বাড়ি ঘর, রাস্তা ঘাট, ব্রিজ, কার্লভার্ট।
পাহাড়ী ঢলে নদী হয়ে যেতো কানায় কানায় পূর্ণ। তখন খেয়া পাড়া পার হয়ে যেতো দুরুহ। পানির প্রবল স্রোতে কত যে নৌকা ডুবি হয়েছে তার হিসেব নেই। কাদায় জলে মাখা মাখি হয়ে আমরা তখন স্কুলে যেতাম।
সেই সব দু:খের দিন এখন আর নেই। গোমতীর দুই তীরে এখন সু উচ্চ বাঁধ ঘাটে ঘাটে তৈরী হয়েছে ব্রিজ। নদী পেরুতে এখন আর ঘাটে বসে মাঝি ভাইকে করুন সুরে ডাকতে হয়না, খেয়া না পেয়ে অপর পাড়ে থাকতে হয় না পরবাস। দিন এখন বদলেছে। ছবিতে আমাদের এলাকার একটি ব্রিজে এই অধমকে দেখা যাচ্ছে।
