Day one of god only knows how many attempts to weight loss

Good morning steemit. Today is the first day i am going back onto the Keto and intermittent fasting food plan. Im at a morbidly obese weight of 390lbs and my goal is simply to be healthy. Maybe thats 175 or perhaps its 300. I will be happy in my own skin regardless of where the journey takes me.

Im actually not changing my habbits for weight loss. Im doing this only to feel better. In fact every time i eat Keto and do intermittent fasting i feel soooo much better. There is no denying that my addiction of sugar is not a good one. Amazingly i have overcome several addictions ranging from smoking cigarettes to heavy drug usage and even sexual addictions. None were as hard to walk away from in comparison to food. Yes i know that of course its hard because we need food to live right? Well yes we do. Its not necessity of food in question. It is the types of food we eat.

Most everything in our diets, with the exception of those people who grow and raise their own food, is hyper processd with tons of sugars added under many different names and it is all gmo. If you look up the studies on these common items used in almost everything processed you will find they all have addictive properties and wreak havoc in your body. One could even challenge that the food industry is purposely doing this for ominous reasons, but i digress.

A couple of ingredients being put into pretty much everything are maltodextrin, dextrose and msg (monosodium glutamate). Despite maltodextrin and dextrose being considered sugar free sweetners they actually increase insulin much more than sugar itself. We also find the same is true with corn syrup and anything to do with corn additives. Even Msg which is not a sweetner, but rather a salt increases insulin. I have heard it increases it roughly 200%. You might ask whats the point of this?! Insulin is the key to what the body does with sugar. When we eat sugar, starches and grains we increase our insulin levels higher than say vegetables. Im not talking veggies like corn or potatoes. Im talking green leafy vegatables. Cruciferous veggies are very low on the glycemic index. Insulins job is to remove sugar from the blood and feed the cells. If we become insulin resistant our bodies can no longer do this. When insulin resistant our bodies increase the amount of insulin to try and compensate. Your insulin comes to play every time you eat. By eating less glycemic foods your body naturally needs less insulin which eventually fixes insulin resistance. So insulin isnt really bad. It has a purpose and with the right diet you can reverse the effects of insulin resistance. Even if you have diabetes you can fix your body through proper foods and remove the foods that are creating the problem. Ok so im not a doctor. This is all information i have come to find through my own research. Any information i give is for dscussion. I dont claim to diagnose or have the ability to heal anyone.

So after that bunny trail i will say this. When i eat keto with I.F. I feel fantastic aside from the sugar withdrawals. Of course in time those do subside. I am an addict after all. I experience clarity in mind and i feel more emotionally stable. Amazingly that even though i feel great eating this way i tend to stray away from it. There are a few reasons. One reason is that although i love salad and veggies i do get bored with them. After a life of indulgence eating what i want and constantly choosing different meals everyday i get bored with salad. Then i begin to eat more protein and fat which stalls my weight loss. So what is going on there? While eating keto your body burns fat. Doing intermittent fasting allows the body to eat your fat rather than an external source of fat. Eat too much fat and you arent burning fat. Dont eat enough fat and you are hungry. Everyone is different on levels of fat needed depending on their weight and muscle tone and activity. You can figure it out as you adapt. The amount of veggies needed are roughly 7-10cups a day to get all the nutrients and vitamins you need.

I think my largest failure on this eating regimine is boredom as i mentioned before and of course addiction to sugar. I also have to say that there are two sides to the keto coin. One is the simple boring side. Salad and meat everyday once or twice a day or extravigant meals that make you feel like you are still eating as you always have. The second is very hard to do if you are busy or if you arent a cook. I tend to be too busy to cook all the time and even resitant to make time to cook. Some people will take one day a week and prepare all their food for the week. That sounds great right? But then i find it hard to go back to the food i prepared and it winds up wasted. I will figure this out. The demons will be dealt with. Failure is not an option. Success is where i live.
