NEW YORK, NY – Months after British-Liberian artist Lina Iris Viktor came forward with her claim that Kendrick Lamar’s “All The Stars” music video copied elements from her “Constellations” series of paintings, Kendrick has officially denied Viktor’s allegations.

Artnet News reports that K-Dot and his co-defendants recently filed court documents denying that they stole from the “Constellations” series for their “All The Stars” visual.!

The music video for the SZA-assisted “All The Stars” was released on February 6 and was featured on Black Panther: The Album, the official soundtrack to the blockbuster film.

Viktor fired off a letter to Anthony “Top Dawg” Tiffith claiming a copyright violation, mere days after the “All The Stars” video premiere.

Viktor was also reportedly approached on two separate occasions on behalf of the Black Panther film in regards to the use of her work. She turned down both requests.

In addition to denying that they copied elements from “Constellations,” Kendrick and his co-defendants also reportedly argued that if they did borrow from Viktor’s art series it would be considered fair use.

Viktor is currently seeking damages, and also hopes to prevent Kendrick from continuing to distribute the “All The Stars” music video.
