Cross-pollination of corn plants
A variety of marriage system can be used in producing offspring that will be tested. The most common procedure is to collect the results of the only seeds that do pollination (pollen-free) of the selected plants and use it to make a plot of the descent. This is the procedure used in the selection of "rows cob" (ear-to-row selection) on corn.
Mass selection in its simplest form no doubt is a breeding method the earliest used by way of cross-pollination.
