Kanuma: Festival of the Cattle

This is the 3rd day of the Sankranthi festival which is the next day of Makara Sankranthi.
This is very important to farmers who regard cattle as a symbol of good fortune and prosperity.
The cattle are bathed and decorated with ornaments and paints are taken to the temples to perform ‘puja’.

It is this day bull fighting and bull racing is organised. There is cock fighting as well in some of the villages.
As per Mythology, it is this day Lord Krishna lifted Govardhana hill to protect the village people and the cattle from floods.

Not to mention there will be feasts every day but mostly vegetarian.
