First a Male Kangaroo at night. Second, this looks like a small Female Kangaroo during the daytime. These iconic creatures of Australia are active both at night and day. They have become much more common on Cattle Stations because of the abundance of water in Dams and Cattle water troughs.
Kangaroos are superbly adapted to Australia's harsh climate. They are one of the only animals that are able to delay their pregnancy if the weather is too dry. The Female can freeze the development of an Embryo until conditions become more suitable or until the previous Joey ( baby ) is able to leave the pouch. To clarify, the mother has a pouch that the baby is carried in and is able to feed on milk through a teat in the pouch. When the Joey is old enough, it leaves the pouch and eventually becomes independent of its Mother. It is then that the Mother can choose to re-activate the pregnancy so she can concentrate on feeding only one hungry baby.

They are protected but can be hunted by licensed shooters. Kangaroo meat is popular in a lot of countries. Australia exports a lot of this, as it is lean, and a healthy source of protein. Shooters are only allowed to take large animals.
Didn't know that. i figured your Kangaroo would be like our deer if there were enough of them. Glad they have some protection.
