Kali Linux Installation on Raspberry Pi 3B using Windows 10

in #kalilinux7 years ago

I was just setting up Kali Linux on my Raspberry Pi 3B on my PC (Windows 10) and I thought that I'd describe a how-to step by step in case anyone might need this information. :P

Requirements:

A PC that runs Windows, preferably Windows 10
A class-10 micro SD card with at minimum capability of 8 Gigabytes
An adapter for you to plug the micro SD card into your PC
A Raspberry Pi, every model from 2 to 3B should work
(Also needless to say but the essentials to run the Raspberry Pi)

That's it!!! Now you're ready to start the installation!

Step 1.) Download the Kali Linux .iso file. This file will be in the alternate downloads section of the Offensive Security website. [The link is here: https://www.offensive-security.com/kali-linux-arm-images/] You will want to download the Raspberry Pi 2/3 file and it should be about 0.8 Gigabytes.

Step 2.) Now that that is downloading you will want to download Win32DiskImager. [The link is here: https://sourceforge.net/projects/win32diskimager/files/latest/download] This is what you'll use in order to mount the .iso file to the micro SD card :)

Step 3.) Once you have the .iso file downloaded and Win32DiscImager installed you will need to run Win32DiscImager. (At this point make sure that your micro SD card is plugged into your PC.) First you will choose which Media Drive to mount a file onto, you will need to choose your micro SD card. Then you will need to choose the file by clicking on the file icon and navigate to wherever you saved the .iso file and click on it. Once you have done that then you should click "Write".

Step 4.) You're close to finishing! Now the last thing to do is to wait for the .iso file to finish mounting onto your micro SD card and then move the micro SD card to your Raspberry Pi and boot it. :D

Thank you for taking your time and reading this and I really do hope that it will become useful for someone in the future. If you actually enjoyed reading then please upvote and follow for I will be posting more Kali Linux related stuff. This is Dawson signing off, have a great day!
