Steemit: An MMORPG based on Real Life! (wow so rad)

in #juststeemit8 years ago

Games like World of Warcraft were transformative in bringing millions of players around the world together into a persistent online universe. And now it's time for the Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game genre to make a comeback, now at even greater heights of immersion.

Here comes a truly legendary MMORPG. Steemit is the name of the game.

The story:

A gateway to the ancient knowledge of Blockchains and Cryptocurrency has been made known to mankind (again). The Federal Reserve got too drunk on its own power, and so the Invisible Hand decided to unleash Satoshi Nakamoto onto the world, leading to the genesis of a new currency.

They call it Steem. An Abundance-type resource.

A product of passion by Dan Larimer, Ned Scott, and later - the community.

It's an elegant social-centric, lightweight and frictionless tool that bridges the virtual and the physical. The most epic MMORPG ever in the making, at your fingertips!

Game mechanics:

Just be human. Level up by earning Reputation and Steem Power by building on the Steem network, and interacting with it. The community generates the playing field and missions. Improve the game together, one interaction at a time.

Game features:

A fully-functioning social platform that enables you to communicate, trade, and organize yourself with any other players in the network. Many of the other game features are still hidden, waiting to be discovered by players. And the game can be as real as you make it to be, just like in Real Life! (wow)

Main Mission:

  • Improve Real Life through voluntary, non-violent means.
  • Co-exist with other currencies.

How to play:

Figure it out for yourself with -

  • The company of good people.
  • The many posts found on Steemit.

Suitable for:

Anyone.

Is it Doge-friendly?

Yes.

Hehe, nice post :)
Curious (if you have time) what your thoughts are on this proposal to add a new gamification element into the MMORPG: Introducing The Esteem Score - Proposal to Add Gamification to the Steemit User Experience

I'm still trying to process that post.. i think it's better if you have a mockup.. numbers make me dizzy.. (my fault lol)

Haha, no problem. You can probably skip over all the math parts. The main idea is that each user could vote on every other user, similar to how we all vote on witnesses today. The more upvotes you get - the higher your score.

Nice adaptation haha I liked how you mentioned that it was Doge-friendly. The only thing I'm not fully getting here though, is Satoshi a pawn of the Invisible Hand, and is the Invisible Hand supposed to be the adversary of the Federal Reserve? I think I'm just not getting the Invisible Hand reference.

Well the Invisible Hand is the net effect / reaction of the market.. :)

Well, when you put it that way, that makes a lot of sense! haha I was overthinking it. Nicely written, man!

Thanks dude, I appreciate the compliment :)

8 bit graphics requires 8 bit background music. Also some button sound effects.

yes, most definitely :) steemit needs multiple skins , or a marketplace!

I know remember the first video games I played :)

I really like the analogy, and I think you're on to something with the gamification of Steem and Steemit in order to attract more users. An achievement system similar to what WoW has would be a logical next step in addition to more increased gamification of the reputation and steem power scores.

@andrarchy has theorized something like this before, but wanting to include a real meta game on top of Steemit, discovering "ancient artifacts" and feeling like Indiana Jones. Yeah, i think it's particularly interesting since each post is an action that has consequences.. :)

I remember taking that photo! :)
Fun post Kevin, so great meeting you and the crew at Steemfest!

Ah so you're that guy! Followed, and thanks for that pic, I really like it ;) Great to have met you too!

Great analogy and the two fit together surprising well. Nice job, bro! 😀

@andrarchy has talked about a concept called The Game before, applied on the Steem blockchain.. i'd have to dig through his posts though but its definitely an interesting meta concept :)

Thanks for the heads up, bro. Will check it out!

Is this anything like The Legend of Zelda, I was pretty good at that game.

Steemit can be anything you want it to be.. maybe u can also livestream with The Legend of Zelda :) Which version though?

Now it's my favorite game

same here :) I stopped playing games (much lesser) since i started steemit!

Means you made the right call )
