Day 574: 5 Minute Freewrite: Friday - Prompt: Gotham city - A Lawn Chair Story Freewrite - "Company"

Company

He loved visiting Gotham City, but he knew as he stepped on the plane it could very well be the last time he ever saw the city. He never understood how New York had become synonymous with Gotham City the fictional DC comics home town. It was always such a dark and foreboding place in the comic stories. Still it was a fine town nick name. New York did have it's dark corners after all.

Parts he would miss, just as he would miss a lot of things. He sat on his lawn chair waiting, it would be soon. He heard another car pull into the parking lot below, and then heard the frantic steps of someone running up the hill. He wondered who it was, who else had heard the siren song of the future. He knew there would be a few others, but he was still surprised.

He would know soon enough who they were, they were almost here after all. He heard a short intake of breath, a gasp really. He was unsure if it was because of the run up the hill, or the shock they had of seeing him sitting in a lawn chair at the top of the hill backed by the oak tree.

Soon the last rays of the setting sun would be below the horizon, he glanced at the new comer and offered them one of the sandwiches he had brought with him, and a bottle of water....

end of five minutes.

• Why leave the keys in the car?

• Why did he need a lunch?
• What was he waiting on?

So the keys have been explained sort of, and the now the lunch, and I have absolutely no idea where this is going, but I am having a little bit of fun doing it.
