A Panoramic Driveway View

Eight days ago we had our first real snow of the season, When it was all said and done, about 10 inches of snow. It snowed again on the 11th and 12th and we had a short power outage the 13th I think. We had our driveway plowed on Monday. Then Tuesday it started to snow again in the evening, then through most of Wednesday. Thursday we woke up to a lot of snow on the vehicle, and a cold house. So clear the vehicle shovel just around the vehicle. Start it up and let it warm while recovering from the clearing in the house. Then off for a drive. A lucky drive as we are leaving the snow plow guy shows up, I mention the power outage and that we were going to go get some coffee. He was nice enough to let me know where I wanted to go had no power so the other direction we go.

So some of you have seen my Panoramic Driveway Pictures. Yes I am still working on learning and at what size the program works at a good speed. So these 5, (yep moved up to 5 images now), were resized to 2000 wide by 1333. Program worked pretty nice and quick at that level. Last week I had the issue with to much unvaried white space (snow) in the foreground, no such issue this time.

Yes it was extreme overcast when I was taking the pictures, and it is snowing again now while I write this post. Life. So the light is not professional lighting. It is lighting from mother nature, what she gave me to work with. It really is a color picture, even though it sort of looks black and white.

The little auto resized by steemit just does not really show well, but you can right click and open in a new window and see the big picture. I think I am going to have fun when spring and summer come next year with panoramic photo taking/editing. I really am enjoying it.

Here is the drive way from before the second plow job.

You can see partially filled in tracks from the return trip to the store. When the snow was all done falling there was no track evidence left.

Our snow plow guy does a pretty good job at getting rid of it, (the snow). Here is the results we came home to early Thursday afternoon. The power was back, and the driveway cleared, it was a good day despite the snow, and power outage.

Well if it does not stop snowing we will soon be back to that middle picture and a driveway full of snow again. But that is okay, it is normal, unlike the beginning of winter and no snow on the ground.

Check-in every now and then at @steemUSA, they may have a new Monday Photo or Thursday thought post.

It doesn't mess around when it snows up there, does it?

It has actually been a pretty strange winter this year. We almost always have snow on the ground at Halloween, this year none. We also usually have a two week zero or colder spell around thanksgiving, this year we have only had 3 days I think even remotely close to zero degrees. For the most part this winter temperatures have been 20-35 Fahrenheit. Snowfalls are usually only 3-4 inches at the most, these two 8 inch plus ones are big snows for us, not completely out of the norm, but pretty close to being there. last year for the whole season we only needed to be plowed 6 times, still a few more months to go so we will see what happens.

Unusual winter weather for us but I would rather have the snow than those below zero days any day of the year. The road maintenance people do a pretty nice job on the main roads,, takes awhile to get to the side streets sometimes, but over all a very good road crew in this part of Alaska. And the Electric company does a super job in most cases getting power back to people, they understand the dangers of no heat as well as the next Alaskan.

I love the snow! Believe it or not, it's actually one of the things I miss living in Mexico. There's something about snow that brings out the kid in me and I just want to run out and make snow angels :)

It's crazy how the photos look black and white though; I remember days like that. This made me laugh!

Good one! Hope you and yours are well @bashadow :)

Yes we are doing pretty good so far for it being winter. I have been very pleased actually, finally after a couple of years getting some strength back, no where near the struggle to clear the car and shovel as it was last year, so you let Brian know there is hope.

Oh I'm so pleased to hear that @bashadow! Good for you! and I will certainly pass that on to Brian too :)

It looks lovely and your photos are great! You will be having a white Christmas... We don't have any snow on the ground, but there's a possibility of some on Thursday.

It did not stop snowing so had to clear another 6 inches of snow off the car today for trip to town, and driveway looks like the middle picture again. It's not snow yet today, and hoping it will take a couple of days off from snowing.

It will be up to the roof if it doesn't stop soon!
